For 7200 guns, not the same as tips for 8200 guns

If you have a 7200 gun, these are the right tips. These tips will work with a Weller 8200 soldering gun, but are not the same. As some have pointed out, older 8200 guns have hex nuts instead of set screws, so the back ends of the tip need to be bent. That has always been the case since the bending has to be done after the nuts are put over the ends. It would be impossible for them to sell prebent tips without the nuts. If you want the prebent version for the 8200, you need to get the Weller Copper Soldering Tip 7135n With Nuts.If you have an 8200 that uses nuts, but you still want just the tip, you need the , which comes with two tips. If you have a newer 8200 with set screws, these 7235 tips will work, but aren't the ones I see pictured with newer 8200 guns. Note that these... 3/5 Wayne (Silicon Valley, CA USA) - See all my reviews, June 19, 2015

Great iron if used carefully. Here are some tips (pun intended)

I've had this iron for ten years now. The level of use it's seen has varied up and down, depending on how much time I had available to spend on my electronics hobby. The iron itself is absolutely fine for, you guessed it, hobby and DIY use (no problems with it not being ESD safe, and I've soldered a lot of semiconductors). If I ever need to do a higher volume of work I will upgrade to a WES-51 temp controlled station, but for now this continues to fit the bill quite nicely. The tips are long-lived if you take care of them (keep it tinned even while sitting in the holder, try not to bash it on the holder when you put it in, don't leave it switched on if it won't be used for a while). The standard tip is too big for electronics use and must be replaced with something smaller. For a long time I had a medium-size tip on there and it seemed to function well between 3 and 4 on the heat control, depending on the size of the work. With this station you need to pay quite careful attention to... 5/5 Science Boy - See all my reviews This review is from: Weller WLC100 40-Watt Soldering Station (Tools & Home Improvement) I've had this iron for ten years now. Bottom of the barrel

For the same price one can get a "Professional" series Weller iron () with constant tip temperature, or a less known brand temperature-controlled station () that will be much nicer to work with.PROS:Weller quality and durability.CONS:Price is too high for a simple iron without temperature control, the "power control" knob works like a simple light dimmer - with no feedback from the tip, so the temperature will be jumping up and down while you work.-----------Side notes: for pleasant work experience and good quality soldering one needs to keep the proper tip temperature - it can't be too low or too high. Perfect Tool for the Right Job

As the picture on the box suggests, this tool is designed for cutting and punching through nylon rope and webbing. The knife attachment did a great job of making a clean, precision cut through a woven nylon strap. It was a bit slow, so I kicked in the Boot Heat and it worked like a charm. One of the other tools made a perfect hole through which I could pass a screw. You do not want much more heat than this because the nylon will burn, melt excessively, and give off nasty fumes. I had been using my temperature controlled soldering iron for punching holes in nylon straps, but I was ruining my soldering iron tips.Which brings me to this. Although this tool does get hot enough to melt solder, it is not a soldering iron. Sure, you can use this "in a pinch" for a one-time job. Any soldering iron which specifies watts instead of degrees is not made for the serious soldering of electronic components. To solder electronic components, you want - no, you... 5/5 Nameless Faceless One (Holbrook, NY USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Powerful, lightweight, and worked great.

0 4/5 DrPhysics (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Weller TB100PK 30 Watt/130 Watt Therma Boost Heat Tool (Tools & Home Improvement) I found that I needed much more power than my old 30W soldering iron could provide, to complete a thick wire (AWG 10) to large battery-clamp connection. The "boost" feature in this soldering gun was exactly what I needed and worked great. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 28, 2009

    nice when used right

I bought this tool two or three years ago. I mainly use it for heat-sealing edges of synthetic fabrics, particularly webbing (nylon, polypropylene, and polyester). For the webbing work, this thing is a champ. It cuts thick one or two inch webbing quickly and easily (although it may need the boost for cuts that are both wide and thick), and is warmed up again for the next cut by the time I've measured out the piece.I tried this for cutting nylon fabric for sewing. It works, but the device simply does not have the power to do more than fine cuts. It doesn't have the combination of power and mass to make long cuts of fabric, yet can handle touch-ups just fine. [For fabric cutting, try the Engel Hot Knife, especially with the cutting foot. The original is not on Amazon, but here is a similar item: http://www.amazon.com/Fabric-Cutter-Sealer-Hot-Knife/dp/B00460KVRM/ref=sr_1_47?ie=UTF8&qid=1329150057&sr=8-47]Ultimately, for the price and convenience, this is a... 4/5 polrbear - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
