    Exceeds my expectations so far

This is an inverter stick welder that's tig capable, dual voltage 110v and 220v, puts out 140 amps, and has a digital amperage display. At work I only weld with Millers so I wasn't expecting much for a welder at this price and figured I could risk the 250 bucks. I live in Hawaii so I was happy it included free shipping and the item arrived fast in about 10 days. I opened the box and included were : welder, plastic case, nice solid electrode holder and ground clamp w/leads and connectors, tig torch with lead and hose, tig torch accessories (4 inch back cap, collets, ceramic cup), handy little wire brush/slag hammer all in one tool, welding mask with handle, and shade 10 filter lens. The welder had a 240v plug on it I had never seen before. It's similar to the outlet for my dryer but a bit smaller. I went to home depot and found the female plug for it and made a pigtail adapter so I could run it on a 110v/15amps. I plug it in and it turned on and I played with the amperage selector. Can't beat it for the price!

Back in the early eighties I walked into a fresh job and saw a bunch of fitters TIG welding pipe. They were walking the cup installing 6 inch schedule 20 316L pipe. I saw a bunch of 120 volt extension cords all over the place and all looked great. I asked the guy I was working with where the welding machines were as I didn't see any. He said they were hanging on the argon bottles. I gave a double take and there sure enough they were there. Little blue shoeboxes. They called them pocket welders. I just had to have one until I found out how much money they were. Ouch! Too much for me! Needless to say a lot of them evaporated, if you know what I mean. I have always wanted one since then and now they are indeed affordable. Oh yea, I have done my share of TIG welding in my day. They all seemed to work good at that. But! The early ones up until not long ago didn't do well with stick. That has all changed. Now, they will run stick. The cheaper ones, like this won't run all rods well. Compact, digital amp meter, smooth arc, packaged well. It does not come with a hose connector for tig welding, but that part can be found on the internet. Great TIG at a great price with plenty of room to grow

I've been using a Clarke MIG welder for quite some time and after trying a couple high end Miller machines I decided I had to learn TIG because I wanted to mainly start working with aluminum on my car build but I didn't want to spend $4000 for a Miller Dynasty 200 and I didn't want to get a Diversion which I felt I could outgrow quickly. I've been looking at various low cost inverter TIG welders for the past year and have really noticed these imported inverters are just as good as any high end american made in terms of weld quality (can't speak for the durability and support of some of these machines). I mainly had set my eyes on the Everlast machines, but I decided to get this machine after watching several videos of this welder featured on youtube by Mr Tig and Kevin Caron. The features you get for the price just can't be matched. The machine arrived well packaged. I was able to test out both 110v and 220v with the TIG 4T and 2T modes both trigger and pedal. GREAT MACHINE!

I can't really believe that I got this quality of welder at such a low price. I am sure the price will rise a good amount after there are a quite a few sold. The package was put together very well and safe. Not anything was broken or damaged. I opened everything and inspected all the components before installing. WP17 Torch is good quality and components are fine as well. It is very easy to connect everything. I used the machine with the 220v - 115v adapter which is a good quality piece as well. The gas regulator works fine but is not great. I will be upgrading to a ball flow meter style regulator when I can. I tried it out first with the foot pedal set at 130 amps on DC. I was testing on some 1/8" plate (Mild Steel). I used the 1/16" thoriated tungsten included. The arc was incredibly smooth. It had plenty of power at only 140 amps to go through the steel. I also tinkered on some stainless steel as well and the amperage control was great! This is a great buy and I can't wait... 5/5 Caleb Camrann Coker - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great TIG Machine!!

I decided to take a chance on this welder after some research and let me tell you I am glad I did! It is great for the money and has performed flawlessly! I weld aluminum and 4130 on a regular basis and wanted a machine with AC balance control (was using a Miller Diversion 180) and this machine fits the bill perfectly. Arc stability is great and the controls are well laid out easy for a beginner or a seasoned welder. Welds aluminum as good if not better than a 6k dollar welder and is a perfect fit for the home/shop fabricator. I have about 20 hours on the machine at this time and have yet to find anything to complain about other than the foot pedal could really use some rubber feet to steady it on the floor. It performs as well as any big name machine and I have experience with owning three other brands before this one all of whic cost 4-5 times as much. The machine is well made and well thought out kudos to the designers. If you are looking for a great tig at a low cost point that... 5/5 David B. I found i used it more than the 220v Miller we had at work. OK, I purchased this welder with a little hesitance. I needed to replace my Nationally known blue machine and funds were a little low. After many days of research and watching the seemingly paid for YouTube videos I decided to purchase this machine. The price was very low even for this machine (Thanks Amazon) and I figured if it didn't work I could always send it back via Amazon.I was pleasantly surprised to get a response back so quick from AHP after I asked them to send it out as soon as possible. It shipped the next morning and I received it 2 days later, proximity being one State away helped. Package was well deigned and Welder was very snug inside and very well packed. After going through all the items in the box and doing a thorough inspection I could not detect any problem except for one very minor detail. The only feature I would add to a future version isan adjustable frequency from 60 to 240 hertz for aluminum. So far it is working great, easy to use, no problems encountered. Can't say much about the weld quality, but that is the operator, not the equipment. When i actually do it right, the welds look very nice. i haven't tried aluminum yet, I've just been working on a welding table from mild steel. This review is from: Hobart 500551 EZ TIG 165i 230-Volt Inverter-Based AC/DC Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) Got this machine this week, welding steel is an absolute dream. I also have a Hobart Handler 210 with the spool gun for aluminum but wanted to get away from the spatter and have nice clean welds. Aluminum so far has been a challenge. After a few days of practice and getting a different tungsten for the gun and smaller filler rod it has gotten better. After watching a few videos and reading some online forums I'm learning how to weld aluminum much better and I think this machine will be everything I was hoping it would be. Nice machine, but I wish the leads were detachable. Overall, love it! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 23, 2012

The controls make setup a breeze. It's also a very light unit, at least compared to my Hobart Handle 187, which weighs a ton. The actual TIG welding isn't easy, but this is true of any unit. The only downside is that it only comes with a 3/32" collet and collet body. If you're using 1/16", 0.040", or 0.20" electrodes, you'll need to order these separately. But they're inexpensive. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 23, 2013

Good welder - watch the Importer!

I have been using this welder in a busy gun shop for 2-3 years. It gets used daily but I seldom have the arc going for over 30 seconds. I am welding on guns and must keep the heat load in the metal low. So I have no Idea how the machine will hold up doing long continuous welds. The argon gas cut off valve is very prone to sticking open. I know a number of folks with these machines and eventually they all start doing it. A sharp mild smack to the left rear side of the welder un-sticks it. However, get used to checking for gas after flow or it will run out your entire talk in a few hours. ALWAYS shut off your gas bottle when you quit welding for more than a few minutes. This is good practice anyway.I was a dealer for these for about a year. For the price they are wonderful machines. Considering the price you may have issues. I quit being a dealer on these due to less than wonderful ethics on the part of the importer. I also sometimes had difficulty... 4/5 G. Good value

0 4/5 Tiggy - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Everlast Power ITig 200 DC Stick TIG Welder 110v/220v (Tools & Home Improvement) Nice machine for value. Dc makes smooth arc start and tig welding is stable. Electrode holder is not that great, I switched the holder out with a tweco. And an upgrade to a gas lens is another plus. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 31, 2013

    Power Tig

0 5/5 Nomad - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Everlast Power ITig 200 DC Stick TIG Welder 110v/220v (Tools & Home Improvement) I've have this unit for 5 month and i think that is long enough to give a true review. Everything about it works great. I don't use it alot but I customized my motorcycle over the winter and welded several items on it. I used both Tig and stick. I was able to weld some very thin stainless steel, low amps and it ran very smooth. The HF works well. I bought a 40 cf argon tank at the local suppy shop for $125. I was a bit apprehensive about buying an off brand machine but could not justify spending BIG bucks on a welder that would not see a lot of use. I am very happy with this unit. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 10, 2013

Very nice unit with plenty of power.

I bought this unit to do some auto body panel replacement welding. I already have a 220 volt mig that I have used for over 10 years. It has a hard time with light welding tasks like sheetmetal. I figured this unit would be good for small welding tasks and is a good brand name in the welding world. The unit came well packed. I was not happy that the gas regulator did not have a gauge, thus making it hard to know when you were near the end of your bottle. I did end up adding a gauge since this would drive me nuts. The reason I am giving it full stars is based on its performance. It really surprised me to its ability to weld thicker material and still run on just 110 power. I love that I can plug it in anywhere and weld away on just about any size material with ease. And as predicted, it does dial down to be very good with 18 gauge sheetmetal. I wish it had a infinite dial for power output but I am able to find one of the 4 settings that will work for the job at hand. I have plugged into... 5/5 hankbear - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Lincoln Electric K2185-1 MIG Welder

Was looking for a decent, cheap MIG welder two years ago, searched the web and found this for $267.18, delivered, Fed EX, 2 day delivery. Jumped at this price and got it in two days. I have had a Lincoln 235 Amp AC welder for about 40 Years (bought it new for $79.00 retail at Farm & Fleet) and have welded more things than I can remember. It is still going strong, so I knew I was going with a good brand name. A few months later, I bought a Argon/CO2 tank to go with it. It sat in my shop until just recently, (We moved here in 2010 and it took a while to get the shop built and arranged the way it should be) when I bought a cart for the welder. Well, I just used it about a week ago. This thing is fantastic! It is the easiest welder I have ever used. I built a cart for my OXY/Acetylene set, out of 1" square steel tubing, all miter cuts. The fact that you can see exactly where the weld is immediately, is great, no chipping off slag to see the results. I was using a 15... 5/5 Herb Petersen - See all my reviews This review is from: Lincoln Electric K2185-1 Handy MIG Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) Was looking for a decent, cheap MIG welder two years ago, searched the web and found this for $267.18, delivered, Fed EX, 2 day delivery.
