    Exceeds my expectations so far

This is an inverter stick welder that's tig capable, dual voltage 110v and 220v, puts out 140 amps, and has a digital amperage display. At work I only weld with Millers so I wasn't expecting much for a welder at this price and figured I could risk the 250 bucks. I live in Hawaii so I was happy it included free shipping and the item arrived fast in about 10 days. I opened the box and included were : welder, plastic case, nice solid electrode holder and ground clamp w/leads and connectors, tig torch with lead and hose, tig torch accessories (4 inch back cap, collets, ceramic cup), handy little wire brush/slag hammer all in one tool, welding mask with handle, and shade 10 filter lens. The welder had a 240v plug on it I had never seen before. It's similar to the outlet for my dryer but a bit smaller. I went to home depot and found the female plug for it and made a pigtail adapter so I could run it on a 110v/15amps. I plug it in and it turned on and I played with the amperage selector. Can't beat it for the price!

Back in the early eighties I walked into a fresh job and saw a bunch of fitters TIG welding pipe. They were walking the cup installing 6 inch schedule 20 316L pipe. I saw a bunch of 120 volt extension cords all over the place and all looked great. I asked the guy I was working with where the welding machines were as I didn't see any. He said they were hanging on the argon bottles. I gave a double take and there sure enough they were there. Little blue shoeboxes. They called them pocket welders. I just had to have one until I found out how much money they were. Ouch! Too much for me! Needless to say a lot of them evaporated, if you know what I mean. I have always wanted one since then and now they are indeed affordable. Oh yea, I have done my share of TIG welding in my day. They all seemed to work good at that. But! The early ones up until not long ago didn't do well with stick. That has all changed. Now, they will run stick. The cheaper ones, like this won't run all rods well. Light, and powerful, love to have it in my shop.

I tried the arc welding first and was pleasantly surprised at how well it would weld. The arc is smooth and steady, and had plenty of power. The welder runs on 120 or 220, and it does not need to be switched, it only needs an adapter to convert to a 220 outlet, and the machine comes with that adapter. When you turn the machine on, it detects how much voltage is present, and adjust the welder to it, and limits the welding power accordingly.I bought the gas bottle ,and went with all argon. This was my first attempt to TIG weld. My TIG welding was pretty bad for the first 5 or 6 tries, but then I got one that looked pretty good, So you do need to develop TIG welding skills, they are different from ARC welding skills, and take more practice than ARC welding. This is a DC welder, so as far as TIG welding goes, it is not suitable to weld Aluminum. If you want to weld Aluminum, you’re going to need a welder that has A/C abilities, and the cost of that welder is going to be... 5/5 Amazon Customer "Gadgeteer" (Jensen Beach, Florida United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great TIG at a great price with plenty of room to grow

I've been using a Clarke MIG welder for quite some time and after trying a couple high end Miller machines I decided I had to learn TIG because I wanted to mainly start working with aluminum on my car build but I didn't want to spend $4000 for a Miller Dynasty 200 and I didn't want to get a Diversion which I felt I could outgrow quickly. I've been looking at various low cost inverter TIG welders for the past year and have really noticed these imported inverters are just as good as any high end american made in terms of weld quality (can't speak for the durability and support of some of these machines). I mainly had set my eyes on the Everlast machines, but I decided to get this machine after watching several videos of this welder featured on youtube by Mr Tig and Kevin Caron. The features you get for the price just can't be matched. The machine arrived well packaged. I was able to test out both 110v and 220v with the TIG 4T and 2T modes both trigger and pedal. GREAT MACHINE!

I can't really believe that I got this quality of welder at such a low price. I am sure the price will rise a good amount after there are a quite a few sold. The package was put together very well and safe. Not anything was broken or damaged. I opened everything and inspected all the components before installing. WP17 Torch is good quality and components are fine as well. It is very easy to connect everything. I used the machine with the 220v - 115v adapter which is a good quality piece as well. The gas regulator works fine but is not great. I will be upgrading to a ball flow meter style regulator when I can. I tried it out first with the foot pedal set at 130 amps on DC. I was testing on some 1/8" plate (Mild Steel). I used the 1/16" thoriated tungsten included. The arc was incredibly smooth. It had plenty of power at only 140 amps to go through the steel. I also tinkered on some stainless steel as well and the amperage control was great! This is a great buy and I can't wait... 5/5 Caleb Camrann Coker - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) AHP TIG Rocks It

Arrived right on time, nicely boxed. Great build quality, included tungsten, ready to go. Hit it with 110 amps DC tig on 1/4 mild steel and laid a nice bead, (100% argon)noted high quality of arc, very smooth, easy start. Cutapart the bead and noted nice penetration. Went for the AC and some 1/8 aluminum plate. Easy to set start and end amps, cleaning, etc , plugged in supplied pedal and.....wow, like butter, love it.Time to go try it out on my chrome molley roll cage project......Did not try the stick function but I already have a sweet stick machine, so don't need it.The big thing to note about this AHP 200DX machine, is the smooth arc, the confidence a set of knobs inspires and the "ready to go" condition when it arrived. No fiddling with plugs, voltage jumpers, etc.The torch itself is OK and considering the price, pretty nice. I bought this unit directly from Eastwood, so I am not a "confirmed purchaser"... trust me or don't... no skin off my back.I have never TIG welded before, but I wanted to learn. I wasn't about to lay down big bucks for the American welders... (Miller, Lincoln). So I was looking at the Chinese welders... there is no question that this is made in China and Eastwood doesn't hide the fact either. I have restored cars before and have delt with Eastwood in the past... Their 3 year warranty is what sold me on going with the Eastwood machine. So let's get onto the review.I did alot of research online on how to tig weld... check youtube there are tons of videos. So I finally got a bottle of argon and a piece of metal to start on. The unit fired, but I could not melt the steel (1/16" plate). I figured I did something wrong and kept trying, still no melt. I then switched it from pedal to panel and it worked fine. So the pedal was bad from the start. I took it apart, put... 4/5 Blair Weiss (Peterborough, NH USA) - See all my reviews I bought this unit directly from Eastwood, so I am not a "confirmed purchaser"... trust me or don't... no skin off my back.I have never TIG welded before, but I wanted to learn. TIG newbie is pleased…

I bought my machine straight from Eastwood (Amazon price is slightly better at the moment, live and learn…) and so far am quite pleased… I’m just a weekend hobbyist/hack with a little acetylene and arc/flux-core experience, so I had no idea what to expect and can’t compare this with others in this price range, let alone the big heavy-duty commercial machines. But I am fully satisfied …Like another reviewer I did a bunch of online research, but I’ve had no formal training on TIG (watched some vids, that’s it). I discovered the hand/eye coordination for the Eastman TIG is similar to gas, but as I expected it was a touch more demanding – nonetheless, the Eastman machine has produced creditable welds almost from the beginning, when I don’t contaminate the tungsten (ham-fisted). No squawks so far, everything went right together out of the box (I broke tradition and actually read the directions – twice!) and I dove... 5/5 Lawrence Bird (Virginia USA) - See all my reviews, February 19, 2014

I had the 2014 version and it was great, but this one is even better. The high frequency arc start on this machine is far better, the foot pedal is better, and the AC frequency works like a charm. The torch that comes with the machine is pretty nice as well. It even has a flexible head for better maneuverability. The DINSE style connectors also make it easy up upgrade your torch. AHP has awesome customer service. The only thing I would suggest is get a better flow regulator. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 10, 2015

Great tool, TIG Stick and cuts what more do you want?

I bought this unit after taking a welding and metal working class. I really wanted a Plasma cutter for sheet metal and the ability to stick weld. I have had it about 3 years now without a problem, welding a lot of 1/8 angle and sheet, some 1/4 lots of repair work on old rusty metal. I do a lot of metal art with 16 ga sheet and the plasma cutter is like magic cutting that. If you need to make straight cuts through thick metal and have the time, use a band saw, if you need to cut something to fit or make bolt holes the plasma cutter is awesome. With a little practice you can save yourself a lot of drilling time and broken drill bits by cutting the holes instead. If you need to cut thick metal (3/8, 1/2 etc) you need to be patient. If you hurry it you will be frustrated. OXY cutting is fast, expensive and really hot, this plasma cutter cut open nitrogen tanks and empty propane tanks. I have both and haven't used my Oxy cutter much since getting the plasma cutter. The reason I write this... 5/5 Christopher Rodesch (Salt Lake City, UT United States) - See all my reviews, March 22, 2012

The Best Little Tig Welder for the Money

0 5/5 Bike Builder 1 - See all my reviews This review is from: Lotos Technology NC-FXDR-KJUX CT520D 50 amps Plasma Cutter, 200 amps Tig Welder and 200 amps Stick Welder, Red (Misc.) I got this welder for home. I'v used other Tig welders at work but they are all very large machines. This thing is like picking up my lunch box, no lie. Welding is a plesure with it. The ark is crisp and the built in high frec. makes starting a snap. The foot pedal is great and works perfectly. I have been welding for almost 30+ years and I tell you this welder welds as well as my much much larger machines and all for the price of just the foot pedal for my larger more expensive michines. This is so easy it would be greate for the beginer or the pro. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 7, 2012

This review is from: Lotos Technology NC-FXDR-KJUX CT520D 50 amps Plasma Cutter, 200 amps Tig Welder and 200 amps Stick Welder, Red (Misc.) got the item ct520d lotos plasma cutter & welder in late september. it arrived not working first off, plugged it & very minimal function, fan slow & no arc & or plasma air blast. i removed the upper cover & i found 2 wires not plugged in under the cover, plugged them in the obvious place they were meant to be & it worked great for a while.i was starting to like it,cutting 1/8 stainless & mild steel easy. was using it for a few days & it failed with a loud pop & puff of smoke. looked under the cover & found some burnt electrical boards inside.no way for me to fix it. overall i lost out on shipping & time. maybe too many features in one small unit? it was small & pretty light weight . it failed in plasma cutter mode.I am still waiting for amazon to refund me & i shipped back to amazon post mark oct 11 2012 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 2, 2012

    Reluctant buyer happy with purchase.

OK, I purchased this welder with a little hesitance. I needed to replace my Nationally known blue machine and funds were a little low. After many days of research and watching the seemingly paid for YouTube videos I decided to purchase this machine. The price was very low even for this machine (Thanks Amazon) and I figured if it didn't work I could always send it back via Amazon.I was pleasantly surprised to get a response back so quick from AHP after I asked them to send it out as soon as possible. It shipped the next morning and I received it 2 days later, proximity being one State away helped. Package was well deigned and Welder was very snug inside and very well packed. After going through all the items in the box and doing a thorough inspection I could not detect any problem except for one very minor detail. The welder comes with a small accessory kit containing 1 tungsten, 2 caps, 3 nozzles, 3 collets and one collet body. The collet body is one size larger... 5/5 Fabman - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) I'm very pleased with the welder

New to TIG welding, purchased this machine for my home shop. I'm very pleased with the welder so far, I've had it for a month now. The AC and DC TIG functions with foot pedal , 2t/4t trigger and pulse work well, I have been welding away on aluminum and steel. The stick welding function of the machine is excellent! It runs 6010, 6011, 6013, 7014 and 7018 beautifully, good starts and very nice stable arc, yes even runs 6010 rod well. Tech support is very good. The machine recently developed a Tig HF start issue, I was able to reach a knowledgeable tech with one call, and was instructed to check the spark gap on the internal points in the machine. It was easy an easy adjustment and fixed the issue. The only (small) gripe I have is the supplied WP17 150 amp torch. It gets wicked hot!! This is a 200 amp machine, it really needs to come with a 200 amp 26 series torch? I put a 26 on it and am much happier, $65 fix. All in all, this is an unbeatable welder at this price point, support from... 5/5 @BY_ChickenLady "The Chicken Lady" (SouthWest) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
