    Exceeds my expectations so far

This is an inverter stick welder that's tig capable, dual voltage 110v and 220v, puts out 140 amps, and has a digital amperage display. At work I only weld with Millers so I wasn't expecting much for a welder at this price and figured I could risk the 250 bucks. I live in Hawaii so I was happy it included free shipping and the item arrived fast in about 10 days. I opened the box and included were : welder, plastic case, nice solid electrode holder and ground clamp w/leads and connectors, tig torch with lead and hose, tig torch accessories (4 inch back cap, collets, ceramic cup), handy little wire brush/slag hammer all in one tool, welding mask with handle, and shade 10 filter lens. The welder had a 240v plug on it I had never seen before. It's similar to the outlet for my dryer but a bit smaller. I went to home depot and found the female plug for it and made a pigtail adapter so I could run it on a 110v/15amps. I plug it in and it turned on and I played with the amperage selector. Good welder for the money

0 4/5 C. Thompson - See all my reviews This review is from: EVERLAST PowerARC 140 140amp Lift Start TIG / Stick IGBT Welder Dual Voltage (Tools & Home Improvement) I have only tig welded with this unit, but it performs like some high priced compact welders out there. Compact, digital amp meter, smooth arc, packaged well. It does not come with a hose connector for tig welding, but that part can be found on the internet. Very handy for shop and onsite use. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 31, 2012

Can't beat it for the price!

Back in the early eighties I walked into a fresh job and saw a bunch of fitters TIG welding pipe. They were walking the cup installing 6 inch schedule 20 316L pipe. I saw a bunch of 120 volt extension cords all over the place and all looked great. I asked the guy I was working with where the welding machines were as I didn't see any. He said they were hanging on the argon bottles. I gave a double take and there sure enough they were there. Little blue shoeboxes. They called them pocket welders. I just had to have one until I found out how much money they were. Ouch! Too much for me! Needless to say a lot of them evaporated, if you know what I mean. I have always wanted one since then and now they are indeed affordable. Oh yea, I have done my share of TIG welding in my day. They all seemed to work good at that. But! The early ones up until not long ago didn't do well with stick. That has all changed. Now, they will run stick. The cheaper ones, like this won't run all rods well. Great TIG at a great price with plenty of room to grow

I've been using a Clarke MIG welder for quite some time and after trying a couple high end Miller machines I decided I had to learn TIG because I wanted to mainly start working with aluminum on my car build but I didn't want to spend $4000 for a Miller Dynasty 200 and I didn't want to get a Diversion which I felt I could outgrow quickly. I've been looking at various low cost inverter TIG welders for the past year and have really noticed these imported inverters are just as good as any high end american made in terms of weld quality (can't speak for the durability and support of some of these machines). I mainly had set my eyes on the Everlast machines, but I decided to get this machine after watching several videos of this welder featured on youtube by Mr Tig and Kevin Caron. The features you get for the price just can't be matched. The machine arrived well packaged. I was able to test out both 110v and 220v with the TIG 4T and 2T modes both trigger and pedal. GREAT MACHINE!

I can't really believe that I got this quality of welder at such a low price. I am sure the price will rise a good amount after there are a quite a few sold. The package was put together very well and safe. Not anything was broken or damaged. I opened everything and inspected all the components before installing. WP17 Torch is good quality and components are fine as well. It is very easy to connect everything. I used the machine with the 220v - 115v adapter which is a good quality piece as well. The gas regulator works fine but is not great. I will be upgrading to a ball flow meter style regulator when I can. I tried it out first with the foot pedal set at 130 amps on DC. I was testing on some 1/8" plate (Mild Steel). I used the 1/16" thoriated tungsten included. The arc was incredibly smooth. It had plenty of power at only 140 amps to go through the steel. I also tinkered on some stainless steel as well and the amperage control was great! This is a great buy and I can't wait... 5/5 Caleb Camrann Coker - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great TIG Machine!!

I decided to take a chance on this welder after some research and let me tell you I am glad I did! It is great for the money and has performed flawlessly! I weld aluminum and 4130 on a regular basis and wanted a machine with AC balance control (was using a Miller Diversion 180) and this machine fits the bill perfectly. Arc stability is great and the controls are well laid out easy for a beginner or a seasoned welder. Welds aluminum as good if not better than a 6k dollar welder and is a perfect fit for the home/shop fabricator. I have about 20 hours on the machine at this time and have yet to find anything to complain about other than the foot pedal could really use some rubber feet to steady it on the floor. It performs as well as any big name machine and I have experience with owning three other brands before this one all of whic cost 4-5 times as much. The machine is well made and well thought out kudos to the designers. If you are looking for a great tig at a low cost point that... 5/5 David B. (I never used an inverter welder) and I have not welded in over 25 years, and that was with an old gas AC miller welder to weld for water pressurized steel piping. I was looking for a welder for simple hand tool repairs like shovel repairs and digging tool reinforcements and adding steel attachments to my 8 x 5 trailer. Nothing crazy- but maybe ;). I was thinking of mig. ( pro- no slag) negative was that it works best with shielding gas which adds to your "up-front" cost of getting started. Every garage needs this essential tool

I bought this welder direct from Northern, before it was available on Amazon. I bought it AFTER I bought the 200 Amp 240v Hybrid Mig, Stick, Tig welder from Northern because I was so impressed with the quality of the Northern variant of this Chinese welder, and wanted a portable option for 120v. The Construction, Packaging, instructions are what set this apart from the other imports. I don't think there is any quality difference, but the total package is worth buying this model. It is my 3rd welder, and the one I go to most often for play, or small jobs, as it is so portable, works on 110v and just fun to use. I originally got a flux core wire welder, and just got this one for portable stick and to learn/practice my TIG techniqhe. This is the perfect welder to have for around the garage repairs, and light fabrication. Use 1/16 and 3/32" 6013 or 7014 rods, and it is the essential tool for every garage to have for the must have quick repairs. So far it is working great, easy to use, no problems encountered. Can't say much about the weld quality, but that is the operator, not the equipment. When i actually do it right, the welds look very nice. i haven't tried aluminum yet, I've just been working on a welding table from mild steel. This review is from: Hobart 500551 EZ TIG 165i 230-Volt Inverter-Based AC/DC Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) Got this machine this week, welding steel is an absolute dream. I also have a Hobart Handler 210 with the spool gun for aluminum but wanted to get away from the spatter and have nice clean welds. Aluminum so far has been a challenge. After a few days of practice and getting a different tungsten for the gun and smaller filler rod it has gotten better. After watching a few videos and reading some online forums I'm learning how to weld aluminum much better and I think this machine will be everything I was hoping it would be. Nice machine, but I wish the leads were detachable. Overall, love it! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 23, 2012

The controls make setup a breeze. It's also a very light unit, at least compared to my Hobart Handle 187, which weighs a ton. The actual TIG welding isn't easy, but this is true of any unit. The only downside is that it only comes with a 3/32" collet and collet body. If you're using 1/16", 0.040", or 0.20" electrodes, you'll need to order these separately. But they're inexpensive. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 23, 2013

I was pretty excited to get to welding anyway and had my argon and tungsten ready to go. When I turned on the welder I heard a pop and the welder was dead.I ordered a SECOND one and it was completely missing the LED digital display and the panel didn't work at all. Apparently no quality control at all. Longevity states they test each welder before it ships. Rubbish. How could they possibly test a welder that is missing the digital display??What a hassle. Not a good experience and obviously poor quality products. before I ordered this welder, I read the reviews which were preatty much all positive, so I ordered it full of hope and anticipation. what a letdown. I waited 3 months after recieving it to try welding, as I had been reading up on tig welding and wanted to have a clue as to what I was doing. I missed the 30 day window for returning it to amazon. upon getting it setup, I began to string a bead in 1/8" mild steel, and everything seemed to be going well for the first 2" , then the unit appeared to loose almost all power and I have not been able to get enough juice out of it to melt a pool since. I submitted a trouble ticket on the longevity website, took 4 days to get a response. they stated that I could send it in for repairs, but, since I had purchased it from amazon and not directlly from them, that they would not fully honor the warrantee. I contacted amazon customer service, told them the story and they agreed to take the unit as a return, with full refund including shipping... 1/5 Don W. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The perfect welder for a hobby or light-duty fabricator

This welder is nearly perfect for anyone who fabricates with steel. (Because the unit is DC only, you can't weld aluminum with it.) With 160 amps of output, it can run any 1/8" electrode and have duty cycle to spare. For thicker material and less delicate jobs, you can stick-weld. For thinner material or more delicate jobs, you pull out the TIG torch. But the PA160-STH isn't a "jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none." It's a real TIG welder, with high-frequency start, gas solenoid, and pedal output control.Let's talk about arc quality. There's nothing to say, except that it's excellent. With older technology, there was substantial difference in arc quality between cheap, "buzzbox" style welders, and higher-end devices with more circuitry inside them. Nowadays, it seems like inverter welders can output a world-class arc, pretty much across the board. This is no exception. The arc is smooth and controllable, with precise heat output control. The only thing that might... 5/5 Joshua Bardwell (Kennesaw, GA United States) - See all my reviews, August 1, 2013

0 4/5 jason seven - See all my reviews This review is from: EVERLAST PowerARC 160STH High Frequency Start TIG / Stick IGBT Welder 110v/220v (Tools & Home Improvement) Very nice smoothe and powerful, compact, tote anywhere design. I love it. If you plan on using tig most of the time you are better off getting the power tig 200 for 100$ more and it has the 150$ pedal included so really you pay 50 bucks less for ,the powertig 200 than the 160sth with optional pedal. Over all i would recomend this product. much research and time were poured into my decision and i am very satisfied. Welds 1/8 6010& 7018 rods. Peak amperage is 160 on stick & tig settings. Verry high and stable duty cycle. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 20, 2013

Good welder - watch the Importer!

I have been using this welder in a busy gun shop for 2-3 years. It gets used daily but I seldom have the arc going for over 30 seconds. I am welding on guns and must keep the heat load in the metal low. So I have no Idea how the machine will hold up doing long continuous welds. The argon gas cut off valve is very prone to sticking open. I know a number of folks with these machines and eventually they all start doing it. A sharp mild smack to the left rear side of the welder un-sticks it. However, get used to checking for gas after flow or it will run out your entire talk in a few hours. ALWAYS shut off your gas bottle when you quit welding for more than a few minutes. This is good practice anyway.I was a dealer for these for about a year. For the price they are wonderful machines. Considering the price you may have issues. I quit being a dealer on these due to less than wonderful ethics on the part of the importer. I also sometimes had difficulty... 4/5 G. 0 4/5 Tiggy - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Everlast Power ITig 200 DC Stick TIG Welder 110v/220v (Tools & Home Improvement) Nice machine for value. Dc makes smooth arc start and tig welding is stable. Electrode holder is not that great, I switched the holder out with a tweco. And an upgrade to a gas lens is another plus. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 31, 2013

    Unbelievable quality for the price

0 5/5 Nicholas Warren - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Everlast Power ITig 200 DC Stick TIG Welder 110v/220v (Tools & Home Improvement) I was very skeptical when looking into these because I've been blessed with high end millers and Lincoln's, water cooled torches and foot pedals but I wanted a tig at home. Packaging was great. Now for the cons. The torch and electrode holder are pretty cheap. Never had I used a screw type electrode holder and I'm still not a fan. The tig torch itself isn't bad but the cable is EXtremely stiff and hard to work with. And if you plan to run this off an older generator, think twice unless it's an inverter style generator. These are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Other then that, it is the best money spent and I will be buying another everlast multiprocess as soon as possible before their prices go up. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 2, 2014

So a few dents in the case, but everything works okOver all I'm still happy, it's a very loooooong unit, short and skinny, but LONG!Now I'm on the lookout for a good Argon regulator... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 6, 2012

    Great AC/DC TIG welder

I purchased the PowerTIG 185 Micro in June, 2012 and subsequently the in October. Before placing my Amazon order, I called Everlast to ask questions about the pre-flow and post-flow and ended up purchasing the unit over the phone. The PowerTIG 185 Micro came in a double thickness box with some simple graphics on the side. It looked like the courier dropped it on its corner during the delivery and I was pretty scared of what I'd find inside but everything was OK. The welder had white Styrofoam-like blocks protecting the front and back and all of the accessories were in a smaller box within the main one.The welder itself is about 40 pounds but with accessories and the packaging it turned out to be about a 65lb package. The welder case... 5/5 Jason G. - See all my reviews This review is from: Everlast Powertig 185 Micro AC DC Tig Welder 110/220 Volt Inverter (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased the PowerTIG 185 Micro in June, 2012 and subsequently the Everlast PowerPlasma 50 IGBT Plasma Cutter 50amp Arc Cutting System in October. Before placing my Amazon order, I called Everlast to ask questions about the pre-flow and post-flow and ended up purchasing the unit over the phone. The PowerTIG 185 Micro came in a double thickness box with some simple graphics on the side. 0 5/5 Dave@Rugged Fab - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Everlast Powertig 185 Micro AC DC Tig Welder 110/220 Volt Inverter (Tools & Home Improvement) I have been welding and fabricating on and off for 30 years. last month I placed an order for a Powertig 185 Micro. When the box arrived I thought it looked to big and was to heavy. Sure enough the box contained a Powertig 200. I thought they had made a mistake and was getting ready to have the welder shipped back, but I found a brief note explaining that Everlasting was out of 185s and sent a 200 instead. Great customer service, in fact I have never had anyone do this before. Was really interested in a more compact unit for portable work, but because I had work waiting I went ahead tried the 200. Works great! I don't care for the stick electrode holder that came with the unit, but everything else is great, and who can complain about a free upgrade! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 16, 2013

Use it as a prop on your finger or just to rest the palm of your hand and scoot along. Can also double as a clamp pad so you don't scratch up something you don't want to.
